A challenge to live for God

II Corinthians 5:15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

If you are a Christian this verse should stand out to you. You see the status quo for today is to live for self and to do what pleases you. The whole world lives to make themselves happy. Many Christians have this mindset as well. I will do what I want because it makes me happy. But this verse really is telling us as Christinas how we should live! You see Christ died for you and for the whole world. He died that we can have eternal life. But he did not die that we should live for ourselves; he died so that we could live for him. This should be a wake-up call to us as Christians. We are not saved to just sit on the sidelines. We are saved to live for Christ! The challenge is that we should not live for self, but live for God! Living for God means we don’t do what we want, rather we do what he desires. Over the next several weeks we will look at many of the things that God desires for us to do as Christians. But the question today is are you living for God or for self? Does God have control of your life or do you? If you are holding on to control of your life you are doing it all wrong! You may say, but its my life and my dreams and my desires! Why should I live for God? Well God loved you while you were still a sinner. He saw you in your wickedness and in your filth and he sent His Son to die on a cross for your sins! He bought you with a price! Meaning that if he bought you you are no longer your own, you are His! We do have a choice in the matter whether to live for God or live for self, but the easy way is to live for self. The challenge is to live for God! Stop trying to live for yourself and start living for God! You owe him everything because he died for you! The least you can give him in return is your life. Giving your life to God does not mean you will end up in Africa, or a preacher or whatever your crazy idea you have will happen if you give your life to God. But if you give your life to God and live your life for him, you will be willing to do whatever he asks you because you love him and it is not your life! I dare you to live your life for God! Stop living for self and start living for God and see what a difference it will make in not only your life, but in lives all around the world!
