Paul’s Thoughts of the Great Commission: What a Shame

What a shame: I Corinthians 15:4

I Corinthians 15:4 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

What is Paul saying about the Great Commission in this verse? He sees that the Corinthian church has not been doing their job. Why? Because there were people in Corinth that did not know about God! The Corinthian church had not been fulfilling the Great Commission, instead they were too busy living for their flesh and doing what they thought was right. Paul’s heart was that all would know about God and that God loved them and died for their sins. He shamed the Corinthians for failing to obey the Great Commission. I believe if Paul were alive today he would write to most of our churches and be ashamed that people did not have the knowledge of God not just in our cities but all around the world. Because it is our job, as Christians and as churches, to get the gospel around the world! It is time for us to wake up, stop living in sin and living for our own pleasures and start living for God! Living for God means doing all we can to tell others of the love of Christ! Christian wake up! People are dying and going to hell not just in your town and city, but all around the world! We need to get serious about obeying and fulfilling the Great Commission! The world can be reached with the gospel in this generation, but it will take Christians who, like Paul, take the command of Christ seriously! It will take us being ashamed that people do not have the gospel! What a shame that billions are going to die and go to hell without once hearing the name of Christ! We have been failing as a church to do what we were commanded to do, but we can change that, wake up and get the gospel all around the world!
