Paul’s strategy of missions: Acts 16:12

Paul’s strategy of missions: Acts 16:12

Acts 16:12 And from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony: and we were in that city abiding certain days.

In the above verse we see not only Pauls response to the Great Commission, but also one of his main strategies! When he went into regions and places he went to chief cities! In this chapter he went to Philippi which was the chief city of Macedonia. Why would Paul do that? Paul realized that the most amount of people would be in the chief cites. He realized that if he could work and reach the chief cities he could then send people out from the chief cities into the smaller areas and towns. You see this time and time again as Paul goes places. He goes into larger cities, tries to preach the gospel and get churches planted and then train the people to reach out to the surrounding communities. What does this mean for us? It means our aim should be at chief cites in countries. We should look to go to larger cities and from the larger cities reach out to the smaller towns and villages! People all over the world are moving away from the small towns and to the large cities. This means there is more chances to reach them with the gospel in a large city than in a small place. As you reach them in the chief cities you can then train them and send them back to the small towns! Also if we are to go fishing in a pond would you want to go one with millions of fish or just thirty fish? Obviously you would go to the one with more fish in it because their is a great chance of catching fish! This is also another reason to choice chief cities. There are more people there and more chances and opportunities to reach people with the gospel. This does not mean we neglect the villages or small areas, rather we go into chief cities and from there we reach out to the smaller places!
