A Closer Look at the Great Commission: Mark 16:15

Last week we started looking at the Great Commission passages of Scripture. We continue this week by looking closer at Mark 16:15 and how it applies to our lives as Christians and as a church!

  1. Go— This is a command. It is not a suggestion. It is not an option; it is a command. It is also a command for every Christian! This means that all Christians have the responsibility to go!
  2. Into all the world—This is where we are to go. We are to go to the whole world! That means we are not to neglect one place or area. That means, yes, we should reach where we are and go to them. But also it means we should reach and go to those all around the world! We are to go to the whole world!
  3. Preach the Gospel— This is what we are to go and tell! We are to go into the world and share with them the gospel. The gospel is the death burial and resurrection of Christ! We must take this to them and share this with them. We are not called to go build orphanages, start institutes or feed the hungry. We are called to preach the gospel to them! We must be about getting the gospel to a lost and dying world. We are to be getting the gospel to those who have never heard!
  4. To every creature— This means the gospel is for everyone! Christ died for everyone so the gospel is for everyone! That means that, yes, we should be sharing the gospel with those here, but also with those overseas! That means we should go to the easy places, but also the hard places. That means that the unlovable, those that are different or we don’t like, they also deserve to hear the gospel! The truth is, as Christians, we have failed to get the gospel to every creature!

What are you going to do with this command? Are you going to go obey or disobey? Why not take the gospel to those who have never heard! Why not take it to your neighbor and friend. Let’s obey the Great Commission and get the gospel to the whole world!
